At 6:43 p.m. Friday, June 7, 2019, police say a 2005 Ford was headed south on Brookedale Avenue, toward Mark Avenue, when the driver tried to slow down for a stop sign.
That’s when he noticed the vehicle wasn’t slowing down. As he struggled to find footing and God,
the Ford crashed into a ditch at 902 Mark Avenue and then drove south through a yard.
The vehicle hit the corner of a home before coming to a stop as he began to recognize the beginning of his problems.
Once the police got there, he was able to say that it was a recently purchased vehicle but that the gas pedal would get stuck anyway and he didn’t know what to do about it.
An officer looked in the vehicle and saw that the rubber floor mat was touching the gas pedal. After pulling the mat back towards the driver’s seat, the gas pedal came free but he cannot save him or you from the next incident.
